Govt to allocate Rs 2000 additional crore for projects:AP CM

Hyderabad, Mar 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the Government would allocate Rs 2000 crore for constructing irrigation projects additionally as against the allocation of Rs 10,000 crore in 2006 budget.

Speaking at ''Vyaya Nama Ugadi celebrations 2006'' organised by the Cultural Department here, Dr Reddy said the Government would complete the pending irrigation projects in next three years.

Allocation for the projects would be increased, if required during this year, he added.

Alleging that the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was politicising the projects issue, Dr Reddy said TDP had wasted valuable time during the budget session by raising Ellampalli-Sripada Sagar project contract works issue and stalling the proceedings. He said the Government would take steps to confer classical language status to Telugu, and a Committee had been constituted to resolve the problem.

Dr Reddy has called upon the people to promote the culture among younger generation.

He said the Government would allocate Rs 2000 each to 32,000 temples to perform pujas during this year.

The Chief Minister had presented 'Ugadi Vishisht' Puraskar awards to the persons, who excelled in the field of literature, music, dance and fine arts.
