Chennai, Mar 30 (UNI) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested four doctors in connection with alleged question paper leak of All India Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE), conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

CBI DIG (Anti-Corruption Bureau) N R K Reddy told UNI here the arrested doctors were P Satish Kumar, IInd year Paediatrics, Madurai Medical College, Vijay Kanna, MD (Anaesthesia), IInd Year JIPMER, Pondicherry, Ravi Kannan, MD (Physiology), JIPMER and N Bhaskar, MD (Paediatrics), Senior Resident, JIPMER.

The arrested doctors would be produced before a court and the CBI would seek their custody to unravel the entire operation.

Confirming that some seizures had been made during the raids, Mr Reddy said based on that, 'we will seek their remand in CBI custody and interrogate them'.

Malpractice was suspected in the entrance test as 421 doctors from Tamil Nadu qualified for the 1006 available PG seats.

The Union Health Department referred the issue to the CBI in March first week and CBI headquarters transferred the case to Chennai a couple of days ago, leading to raids in clinics and homes of 22 doctors in Tamil Nadu.

The CBI suspected the doctors received the answers of the question papers through their mobile phones after paying Rs two to Rs ten lakh, when they appeared for the entrance test on January eight.
