EC asks four states to seal borders with Assam

New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today asked state governments in Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya to step up precautionary and security measures by sealing borders with Assam.

In a letter to chief secretaries, the EC said the move will check cross border movement of extremist and disruptive elements.

Polling for the state assembly of Assam will be held in two phases. On April 3, 65 assemblies will go to polls. On April 10, 61 assemblies will undergo polling.
