Construction of peripheral expressways around Delhi get a boost
New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) Delhi cabinet today expo-facto cleared release of Rs 247 crore and a further release of Rs 140 crore for constructing Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways around the capital.
A decision to this affect was taken in a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Later, Ms Dikshit said her government was committed to honour its obligations in respect of commissioning of Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways as this would help in decongesting traffic in the city.
The cabinet had accorded expo-facto approval for amount of Rs 147.10 crore released in the year 2004-2005 and amount of Rs 100 crore released in the year 2005-2006.
An amount of Rs 140 crore would be released in current financial year. This would help in speedy implementation of the project. As per the March 11, 2005 Supreme Court decision, Delhi had to bear 50 per cent cost of Rs 844 crore project.
Haryana and UP would share rest of the cost equally. The length of Western Peripheral Expressway was 136 km whereas length of Eastern Peripheral Expressway was 134 km out of which 44 km was in Haryana and 90 km was in UP.
Ms Dikshit said the cabinet had also given its green signal for establishing of Institute of Indian System of Medicine at Khera Dabur in Najafgarh at an estimated cost of Rs 103 crore.
DSIDC had been authorised to execute the project. The cabinet had also authorised the project director to initiate steps to start the process of recruitments in respect of posts required immediately.
A project management committee headed by secretary health and a contract management mommittee headed by the director of the institute would be constituted to oversee establishment of the institute.
Ms Dikshit disclosed that her government was all set to implement good administrative practices and impart training to its officials to enable them to provide hassle-free, efficient and friendly administration.
A presentation on good administrative practices was also made before the cabinet.
