Consensus evolved on Telangana: Union Minister

Hyderabad, Mar 30 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and Union Minister for Labour and Employment K Chandrasekhara Rao today said national parties including the Congress and BJP and other allies of the UPA government and the NDA, supported formation of Telangana.

Speaking to reporters after meeting former Congress Legislature Party leader and Minister P Janardhan Reddy at his home, Mr Rao said the majority of political parties had agreed to support the Telangana bill, which would be introduced in Parliament at the earliest.

Stating that Left parties including CPI, CPI(M) and Forward Bloc had responded positively, he said except the Telugu Desam, which was for a united Andhra, all political parties were pro-Telengana.

Mr Rao said as TRS President, he would strive for statehood until the bill was passed in Parliament in a peaceful and democratic way.

He would meet Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Congress leaders in the state. 'Our party leaders and myself will meet all political parties and get their support until TRS achieves its goal.' Referring to the 'dissident' MLAs recent statements, he said the party would take disciplinary action against them.
