Bomb threat turns out to be a hoax at US Consulate

Chennai, Mar 30: An anonymous e-mail warning that a bomb would explode in the high security US Consulate General Office here turned out to a hoax today.

Police said soon after receiving the e-mail, the Consulate authorities informed the police, who conducted a thorough search of the premises with the help of a bomb detection squad.

But no bomb was found.

Following the threat, however, security in and around the Consulate was further strengthened.
