Whitefield mega paper mill in West Godavari soon

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh Mar 29 (UNI) Whitefield Paper Mills Ltd, an Andhra Pradesh-based company, would establish a mega paper mill in West Godavari district rural area soon.

Talking to newspersons here T T Srinivasa Rao, Chairman and M T Srinivasa, Managing Director of the Company, along with Lav Agarwal, District Collector, West Godavari, said the paper mill would be established at an estimated cost of Rs 1200 crore at Bayyavaram village in Tadepalli mandal.

Mr Rao said the mega project would produce two lakh tonnes per annum , and it would be a pollution free unite.

The company had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh Government on March 22 at Hyderabad in the presence of Chief Minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy.

The unique feature was that the entire woodpulp requirement would be imported from the world famous Sweden-based company "Elof Hansson." Whitefield would export 60 per cent and would meet 40 per cent of domestic needs, after commencement of production.

He said from December 2008, it was proposed to start production.

The Chairman said 1000 people would get direct employment and over 10,000 people indirectly. The Elof Hansson group had agreed to market the product.

Mr Rao said the mill would be established in 250 acre of land at Bayyavaram village and the district administration had agreed to allot the land.

In view of the availability of Godavari water, power through grid, Kakinada port within 100 km distance, highways, railways and gas pipeline within 100 km distance, the place was ideal.
