TN hospital selected research centre by Brainlab

Coimbatore, Mar 29 (UNI) A city-based Hospital has been selected as the 'Reference and Research Centre' for the Asia Pacfic Region for computer navigated surgery by Brainlab, a pioneer and world leader in such medical procedures.

This was announced during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) at Chicago on March 26, Ganga Hospital Chairman J G Shanmuganathan said in a press release yesterday.

Dr Shanmuganathan said the hospital was one of the three centres selected for the honour, the others being University of Leizpig, Germany and Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell University, USA.

Doctors belonging to the Department of Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery will now play an active role in the development of next generation software and operative techniques in the field of spine navigation for performing challenging surgeries.
