Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) Bihar Assembly Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry today appealed to the members to avoid bringing their mobile phones as it hampered proceedings.

Annoyed at the continuous ringing of mobile phones during the pre lunch session of the lower house, the Speaker asked the MLAs either not to bring their phones or switch it off.

Mr Choudhry said the ring tones were hindering smooth functioning.

Taking the matter seriously, former Deputy Speaker of the House and BJP member Bhola Singh said it was painful that a few members were in the habit of spitting and tobacco on the floor of the House. He said the House was not a meeting or conference hall and requested the chair to give some ruling over such habits.

To this the speaker hoped that the legislators might be aware of the rules and procedures in which everything had been mentioned.
