SBT launches e-rail ticketing facility

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 29: The State Bank of Travancore has come out with another value offering to its customers - Online Railway Ticket Reservation facility.

The facility was being extended in arrangement with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a railway release said here today.

This enables the 30,000 strong Retail Internet Banking customers of SBT to book railway tickets from the comfort of their Home, Office and from anywhere in the world free of cost.

This facility provides real time Internet Banking facility, enabling fund transfer, third party transfer and Demand Draft request. Online Indirect Tax Payment (OBEC) is available from October 2005.

In addition, SBT will shortly be offering Utility Bill Payment facility through its Internet Banking. This will enable the customers to make online payment of Telephone Bills and Credit Card Payments.

A separate Internet Banking facility for Corporate Customers was also being offered by the bank.

SBT has 287 ATMs spread all over the country and they are part of over 5650 strong network of the State Bank Group enabling the customers to access any of the Bank's ATMs at no additional cost.

NRI customers and other individuals visiting abroad can use SBT International Debit Cards in all Master Card ATMs and in International Master Card outlets. SMS Alert facility has also been introduced for NRI customers. Subsequent to the introduction of Core Banking Solutions, networking all the 685 branches of the Bank, it has been introducing various innovative products in tune with the latest technology trends.

Internet Banking customers of SBT, desirous of making use of the On-line Railway ticketing facility have to register at www.ircte.co.in.
