Rousing reception for Sharath, Shamini
Chennai, Mar 29 (UNI) Country's first Commonwealth Games gold medalist in Table Tennis, Achanta Sharath Kamal came home to a rousing reception from fans and Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDATN) and state Table Tennis Association.
The Andhra Pradesh born, Chennai -- based Sharath was accompanied by K Shamini, who was part of the women's team which bagged the Bronze, the first medal won by Indian women in the Games Sharath Kamal's father Srinivasa Rao, chief coach at the SDATN TT Academy said, ''the gold was no mean achievement.'' ''It is a superb achievement for the sport in India,'' he opined.
''Now there will be lot of takers for table tennis in the country,'' he added.
Sharath Kamal was recieved by some state players and students from the his school.
SDATN Vice President W I Davaram, Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Asociation President S Ganesan and President of the AKG Academy Thomas George, later felicitated the table tennis star.
