Ranjan Yadav defeated in RS polls successively

Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) On the day of total solar elipse, the fate of LJP candidate Ranjan Prasad Yadav was also seemingly eclipsed today as he lost the biennial election to the Rajay Sabha today.

Counting of votes for the RS election began just around the time when the solar eclispe was visible in Patna and Mr Yadav's fate also eclipsed rather simulatneously with the task of counting being completed.

In 2003, Mr Ranjan Prasad Yadav had contested as an Independent candidate but had lost to his RJD rival.

But the RJD national spokesperson and former state Minister Shivanand Tiwari was also not less fortunate as he backed out from the RS election this time after he was tipped as the second preference RS candidate.

The RJD later nominated Rajniti Prasad, a lawyer by profession, as the RS candidate and he emerged as a dark horse in a well contested electoral battle.

The fate of Mr Prasad turned for rather the best when RJD chief and Rail Minister Lalu Prasad roped in the BSP, which had four MLAs in the kitty.

One of the BSP MLAs, however, reportedly cross voted in the election.
