Rahul visits Amethi, hears grievances

Amethi, Mar 29 (UNI) On the first day of his two-day Amethi visit, local MP Rahul Gandhi today mingled with the local residents and patiently heard their grievances.

His visit comes a day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi visited her former Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constitutency and announced she would fight the bypoll from the same seat.

Rahul visited several villages and made physical verification of works being carried out from his Local Area Development fund.

The MP asked aged Congress leader Nizam Ahmad of Kisni village to come to Delhi on Monday for treatment of his kidney problem. Block president Dharmaram Bahelia was given the responsibility of bringing Ahmad to the national capital.

Similarly, he promised financial assisatance to Wahid Ahmad of Shukla Bazar for the marriage of his daughter Sabina Bano.

Several other people of his constituency had direct interaction with the young MP.

Later, the Congress leader went to Newajgarh, where a number of development projects are in progress.

On his way back from Barsanda villge, Rahul distributed sweats to students returning from school.

Earlier, he reached Amethi by road from the Uttar Pradesh capital, where he had reached earlier today by a service flight.

Rahul was to accompany his mother yesterday, but had rescheduled his programme.

En route to Amethi, he made some stopovers to interact with locals who had gathered to welcome him.

The Amethi MP frequents his constituency every two to three months to oversee developmental projects.
