Purification ritual at Tirumala ahead of 'Ugadi'
Tirupati, Mar 29 (UNI) Priests at the Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala performed 'Koilanwarthirumanjanam' (purification ritual) in connection with the Telugu New Year 'Ugadi' which falls tomorrow.
The temple priests performed the special ritual in the temple yesterday and a mixture of sandalwood powder,turmeric and camphor was applied to all the walls and pillars of the sanctum sanctorum and sub temples inside the complex.
'Koilanwarthirumanjanam' is performed four times in a year -- before 'Ugadi,' 'Anivariasthanam,' annual 'Brahmotsavam' and 'Vaikunta Ekadasi.' Special sevas like 'Ashtadala Padapadmaradhanam,''Brahmotsav' and 'Sahasra Deepalankarana' were performed after the ritual.
