Panic envelopes Gwalior as quake rumour spreads

Gwalior, Mar 29: Residents of this citadel town's City Centre, Thatipur, Vinay Nagar and other areas rushed out of their homes following an earthquake rumour in the wake of doors vibrating after a loud explosion yesterday.

Unconfirmed reports spoke of cracks in some houses at Vinay Nagar. However, the meteorological department did not confirmed a temblor.

''I have received complaints of this nature and an inquiry is underway,'' said Collector Rakesh Srivastava.

Sources said that the blast could have been part of military activities as the Army has a sizeable presence in Madhya Pradesh.
