Imphal, Mar 29 (UNI) About 130 trucks were stranded for the fourth day on the Manipur-Nagaland border due to the economic blockade called by the All Tribal Students' Association, Manipur (ATSUM) from March 25 demanding more infrastructure for educational institutes in the hill areas.

Officials said hectic parleys were on at the top level to resolve the crisis. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his Cabinet colleagues had several rounds of talks with ATSUM leaders.

At least 100 trucks were on the Nagaland side on NH-39 and around 30 trucks were lined up on NH-53 on the Manipur side, officials said.

Essential commodities have not reached the state for the fourth consecutive day, resulting in panic among the people.

During the economic blockade called last year by All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), the state had faced acute shortage of all commodities.

Officials expressed hope that an agreement may be reached with the ATSUM leaders soon.
