McAfee to widen base in India

Bangalore, Mar 29 (UNI) McAfee, a leader in Intrusion Prevention and Security Risk Management, today announced its plan to expand its India Centre here to focus on engineering ownership of many products and increase its headcount significantly to meet the growing global demands for online security solutions.

Addressing a press conference here, McAfee Inc Chairman and Chief Executive Officer George Samenuk said his company would invest over 80 million US Dollars in its India Centre in the city over the next four years to enable it emerge the largest research and development location around the world.

He said the Centre would focus on the research and development of security solutions and product innovation and take ownership of some of the key security products it created from requirements to customer release. The Bangalore Consumer Engineering team was the largest globally and was responsible for product, e-commerce and marketing campaign related development testing. It was also working on the next generation product line to develop industry-leading solutions for home and home office users, he added.

Mr Samenuk said ''The expansion of McAfee is a reflection of our continuous commitment and the track record of success in India.'' He said the company would increase the headcount in the Centre from 600 to 1000 by the end of 2008 to focus on R and D, customer support and other business critical functions. McAfee's India Centre would work closely with its customers globally, ensuring their inclusion in the product development lifecycle.

Mr Samenuk said the company, which had achieved an impressive revenue growth of over 22 per cent, was keen on acquiring security solutions providers across the world, especially in Israel and United States. It had over 80 million satisfied customers using 3GSM cell phones.
