Hizbul militant looking to strike during 'Navaratas' held

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) In a prized catch, police have arrested a Pakistan-trained Hizbul Mujahideen militant, out to target revellers during the coming Navarata festival, and seized a large quantity of explosives from him.

Mehrajuddin Akhnoor alias Mehraj (26), who hailed from Budgaon (Kashmir) and was the Area Commander of the HM in Central Kashmir, was arrested from Azadpur Mandi fruit market area yesterday evening, according to Jt Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh.

''Two kilograms of high-intensity explosives and a timer was recovered from him.'' Mehraj, who had been directed to set up a base in Delhi and was planning to strike during the coming Navaratas, had received training in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir under ISI supervision.

He came to india via Nepal after receiving training in handling arms and explosives, he added.
