Hemamalini to perform at Ugadi fete in AP

Tirupati, Mar 29 (UNI) Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) will hold various cultural programmes and games on the occasion of 'Ugadi' (Telugu New Year) which falls tomorrow.

The highlights of the celebrations will be classical dance recital by noted danseuse and actress Hemamalini who will be performing for the first time in the temple town.

The celebrations will begin with 'Annamacharya Sankeerthanas' followed by 'Panchangasravanam' (reading of the almanac). Nearly 20 traditional games will be conducted on the occasion and women attending the celebrations in traditional attire given prizes.

At Tirumala, special poojas will be performed at Sri Venkateswara Temple in the early hours. Special decoration will be made in the sanctum sanctorum.

The 'Panchagasravanam' will be conducted before the deities by the temple priests. The processional deities will be taken out through the four mada streets in the evening.
