HC rejects plea for CBI probe in ice cream parlour case
Kochi Mar 29 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today dismissed the review petition filed by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan seeking a CBI inquiry into the hostile turnaround by witnesses in the ice cream parlour sex scandal case.
Rejecting the petition, Justice J M James said there was no reason to review the judgement dated January 11, 2006, and the petition was without merits.
The Court was of the view that reappreciation of evidence was possible only while considering the revision petition challenging the acquittal of the accused. The revision petition filed by K Ajitha, president, Anweshi Women Counselling Centre, is pending consideration before the Court.
Meanwhile, the CBI submitted before the Court that it could not investigate witnesses turning hostile, as it was engaged in crime investigation.
