Guj Govt appoints 3-member inquiry committee to probe corruption cha
Ahmedabad, Mar 29 (UNI) The Gujarat Government today appointed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate into the alleged corruption charges made against some high-ranking government officers in Chief Minister Narendra Modi's Rs 6,200 crore Sujalam-Sufalam project in the north of the state.
Gujarat Water Supply and Water Resources Minister Narottam Patel said that the government has decided to investigate the matter following reports in a section of local media on March 25, which alleged that the charges were levelled by both ruling and opposition MLAs against the erring officers.
Mr Patel said the committee will be headed by Achal Kumar Joti, Principal Secretary, Finance Department. While other two members are V S Gadhvi, Secretary, Water Supply Department and S J Desai, Secretary, Narmada department.
He said the committee will thoroughly study all the aspects of the media reports and will investigate into the matter.
The committee will finish its investigation soon and will submit its report immediately thereafter, Mr Patel added.
