Govt bowed down to Opposition: Munde

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) BJP leader in the Legislative Assembly Gopinath Munde today said the Government was forced to admit that the Governor had restrained it from releasing supplementary demands of Rs 1041 crore for irrigation department due to the aggressive stand taken by the Opposition.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Munde said the Government had taken the decision to allocate Rs 387 crore for North Maharashtra in the Cabinet about two months ago but did not seek the Governor's permission.

He said the Governor should ensure that Rs 287 crore grant is released for North Maharashtra by March 31.

Mr Munde charged that the Government's intention was to divert the funds to other regions at the last minute.

He said Governor's decision to restrain expenditure of Rs 1041 crore for irrigation purpose had resulted in a Constitutional deadlock.
