government to take steps for reservation for EBC's in Judiciary

Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) Bihar government today said it was in favour of providing reservation to the Extremely Backward Castes (EBCs) in judiciary services and assured initiation of steps for its implementation.

Replying to a call attention of RJD member Mr Vijendra Kumar Yadav and others, Bihar Human Resources Development Minister Vrishn Patel said that presently only Schedule caste (SC) and schedule Tribe (ST) had the facility of reservation in judiciary services.

He said the government had enacted the Reservation Act 1991 with the motive to provide reservation to the SC/ST and EBCs in all government services.

He further said the government had made appeal in the High Court and Supreme court to implement the provision of the act in judiciary services too. In wake of the Supreme Court's order the government had spought opinion from the High court for amendment in Bihar civil services Code 1955 and Higher Judicial services code 1991, the Minister informed saying that the high court was against the government's proposal for amendment.

Despite the fact the government was in favour of providing reservation facilities to the EBCs in Judicial services and assured to initiate effective steps for the same.
