Four persons convicted in murder of cable operator
Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) A local court today convicted four persons in the murder of a cable operator at Ghatkopar in North East Mumbai in 2003.
Additional Sessions Judge N D Deshpande sentenced all the four accused--Rohit Patil, Sanjay Gaikwad, Uday Bhingade and Arun More- to ten years rigorous imprisonment under section 304 of IPC.
According to the prosecution case, victim Surendra Dubey was murdered by four persons in Ghatkopar area on the night of May 31, 2003, with sharp-edged weapons which resulted in his death on the spot.
Police, which later reached the spot on being informed about the incident, saw the victim lying in a pool of blood. The arrest of the four accused resulted in the recovery of the weapons used in the crime.
The prosecution had examined 19 witnesses of which 13, including the complainant eye witness, had turned hostile.
