Farmer's clubs awards given away
Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 29 (UNI) The Kakkengad Farmers' Club and the Hilltop Farmer's Club, both sponsored by the North Malabard Gramin Bank of Kannur, have won the best and second Farmer's Club awards in the state.
The Grama Vikas Farmers' Club sponsored by the North Karuvatta Service Cooperative Bank, Alappuzha, bagged the third best club award, instituted by the NABARD.
Consolation prizes were also awarded to the Panancherry Farmers' Club in Thrissur and Canbank Farmers' Club in Alappuzha.
The awards were given away yesterday during the state level review and development meet here yesterday.
The Farmers' Club is an informal, voluntary organisation of the bank's clients to serve as a platform between the bank and its borrowers and also a body to interact with the larger number of potential clients of the bank.
Senior officials from NABARD, RBI, Commercial Banks, Co-operative and Regional Rural Banks were present at the meeting. The State Level Committee also reviewed the functioning of Farmers' Clubs in the state and suggested measures to further improve the functioning and role of the Farmers' Clubs for the benefit of the farming community.
