Fake BT cotton seeds seized in Haryana factory

Fatehabad, Mar 29 (UNI) The Haryana Agriculture Department today seized a huge cache of fake BT cotton seeds from the premises of a seed-manufacturing unit here.

Over 15 quintals of fake seeds were recovered during a raid a seed factory which was conducted by the Agriculture department led by Deputy Director R C Poonia following a tip-off.

Mr Poonia informed mediapersons that the factory owner admitted to having brought 35 quintals of the fake BT cotton seeds from Gujarat and used to sell it in Haryana and Punjab by filling it in pouches.

The factory owner has been booked under the Seed Act 1966.
