Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) Former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jagmohan Dalmiya was today interroated by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police for five hours on the third successive day in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds of over Rs 21 lakh.

However, his former colleagues S K Nair, Jyoti Bajpai and Kishore Rungta, were grilled for over six hours.

Mr Dalmiya and the others came to the crime branch office at Crawford Market at 1100 hrs. While Mr Dalmiya left at 1600 hrs, the other three left only after 1800 hrs.

The four appeared before the EOW in compliance with the Bombay High Court order of March 23 when it had extended the interim protection from arrest till April 10 and had directed them to attend the inquiries before Mumbai and Kolkata police in connection with the alleged misappropriation of the BCCI funds.

The BCCI, in its complaint, had stated that Mr Dalmiya, as the convenor of PILCOM, the committee formed to overlook the expenses during the 1996 World Cup, had allegedly transferred money into his own account and had misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs 21.74 lakh.

Earlier, Justice V M Kanade, who was hearing the anticipatory bail plea moved by petitioners, had directed them to attend the office of EOW of Mumbai police between March 27, 28, 29 and March 31 and before Kolkata police on April 3, 4 and 5.

The court had also directed them not to leave the country without the permission of the court.

The interrogation will continue on Friday.
