Congress, AGP expell prominent leaders
Guwahati, Mar 29 (UNI) The Asom Congress has expelled 35 partymen for anti-party activities.
Five of them have filed their nominations against the official nominees, while 30 others are party workers from Sibsagar district, party sources said.
Meanwhile, the opposition Asom Gana Parishad have also expelled five prominent leaders for contesting against the official nominees.
They include Biraj Kumar Sarma(Guwahati East), Rekha Rani Das Boro (Barama), Dr Dilip Raja (Batadraba), Padmeswar Doley (Majuli) and Hamen Lahkar.
While Mr Sarma, Vice-prsident of the party and Mrs Das Boro, President of the women wing of the party and Mr Doley are contesting as independent candidates after being denied party tickets, Mr Raja is contesting on AGP(P) ticket.
