BSF-BDR DG level meet in April

Kolkata, Mar 28 (UNI) The Director Generals(DG) of Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) will meet at Dhaka in the last week of April to discuss security measures along the India-Bangladesh border.

'' Several issues relating to infiltration, joint patrolling and border fencing will be discussed in the meeting,'' BSF director general A K Mitra (IPS) told reporters here today.

''BSF will forward intelligence reports of militant camps allegedly operating from Bangladesh soil,'' Mr Mitra, on way to Tripura, said.

The presence of miltant camps had so far been denied by the Bangladesh government.

'' We will try to find an amicable solution to the objections raised during fencing of the border and in certain developmental activities during the meeting,'' he said.

''Matters relating to joint patrolling in the border areas to check infiltration and relocation of border villages will also be taken up in the meeting,'' he said.

India shares a 4,096-km-long porous border with Bangladesh. The border is prone to infiltration and smuggling resulting in frequent skirmishes between security guards of both the countries.
