Bill for setting up private universities introduced in HP

Shimla, Mar 29 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh government today introduced a bill in the Assembly to facilitate setting up of private universities in the state.

Introducing the Himachal Pradesh Private Universities (establishment and regulation) Bill 2006, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said private sector had been approaching the government for establishing universities in the state.

He said there was a need to bring a legislation that would provide for establishment, incorporation and regulation of private universities in the state.

The notification for setting up the university would be issued only after the Assembly passed a resolution.
