18 river conservation projects completed in Bihar
Patna, Mar 29 (UNI) The Bihar government today informed the state legislative council that 18 projects under National River Conservation Programme (NRCP) were completed in Phase-II of Ganga action plan.
Replying to a starred question of BJP member Ms Kiran Ghai, Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said the Union government had selected eight states under NRCP.
He said Rs 42.42 crore had been earmarked for the Phase II of the Ganga action plan which was slated for completion by 2008. He informed that 43 projects of the 45 under phase I of the Ganga action plan had already been completed.
To another question of Ms Ghai, the Minister said comprehensive action plan for promoting the banks of river Ganga as major tourist spot was submitted in NRIs meeting held in Hyderabad in January this year. He said no proposal had been received in this connection as yet.
