Two persons die of food poisoning
Gulbarga, Mar 28 (UNI) Two persons died and another was hospitalised reportedly due to food poisoning after they consumed a dead chicken at Jewargi taluk in this district of Karnataka today.
District Health Officer Panduranga Poojary told UNI that Ramu (25), Lakshman (25), Ratan (60) and five others of a family had eaten the dead chicken's meat on Sunday last. As the trio had started vomiting, they were rushed to the Jewargi Public Health Centre, where Ratan succumbed.
As the condition of the others worsened, they were shifted to the Basaveshwara hospital in the city. Lakshman died later in the evening, but Ramu responded to the treatment.
The official, who visited the victims at the hospital, clarified that the death was only due to food poisoning and not bird flu as reported in a section of the media.
