SMC to get Rs 19 cr from Centre for development activity
Surat, Mar 28 (UNI) Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will get Rs 19 crore under the Urban Renewal Development Project of the Central Government to develop the city.
According to SMC sources Central Urban Renewal Development Authority of the Finance Ministry has approved Rs 38 crore as the total cost to develop the city. The Central government will contribute 50 per cent of the same, while the Corporation's share will be 30 per cent and state's share will be around 20 per cent.
SMC Commissioner Pankaj Joshi was in New Delhi to finalise the project.
SMC sources said that sewage treatment plants will get a priority under this project.
Surat is one of the three cities funded by the Central government for their development. The other two being Ahemedabad and Rajkot.
