New Dalit party launched to oppose AIADMK

Madurai, Mar 28 (UNI) Disappointed at being denied a party ticket, former legislator K Murugavel Rajan, who recently joined the AIADMK, today launched a new party and announced he would contest the polls from Andipatti constituency to take on Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Addressing the media here, he said the new party, People's Liberation Party, would put up candidates in over 100 constituencies in alliance with Puthiya Thamizhagam, led by Dalit leader Dr K Krishnasamy, and the CPI(M-L).

Mr Murugavel Rajan said he would also contest from Samayanallur in Madurai district.

Alleging that he was coerced to join the AIADMK at the fag end of the current Assembly, he charged the party and Ms Jayalalithaa with crippling political assertion of the marginalised by dividing Dalit political parties.

The legislator, elected from Vandavasi on a PMK ticket, resigned from the Assembly and joined the AIADMK along with two other PMK MLAs UNI CR AA SI GC2120
