SUCI to field 26 candidates in Assembly polls

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 27 (UNI) The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) will field 26 candidates in the April-May Assembly elections to the state, party Central Committee Member Krishna Chakraborthi said today.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said besides Kerala, the party would also contest 125 seats in West Bengal, 20 in Assam and four in Tamil Nadu.

Mr Chakraborthi said the SUCI was contesting the elections to raise the voice of democratic mass movement against globalisation.

It would also join with genuine forces of movement against the anti-people policies of both the Centre and the state governments and support such candidates where the SUCI was not contesting, he added.
