Sharad Pawar inaugurates NE Agri Expo, 2006
Dimapur, Mar 27 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today inaugurated the five-day North East Agricultural Expo, 2006 which will see participation of all the eight Northeastern states.
Hosted by the state government, the expo is being sponsored by Union ministries of Agriculture, Department of NE region(DoNEr) and Rural Development and co-organised by the Confederation of India Industry (CII).
In his inaugural speech, Mr Pawar said the North east has rich bio-deirsity with rare flora and fauna.
Nagaland would help achieve the Union government's 'Look East' policy, he said.
He said that the five-day expo would provide a platform for the farmers of the region to interact with scientists, resource persons and investors to boost their agricultural production with modern technology.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kanti Lal Bhuria, Union Minister for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahai, CII Chairman Dhruv Sawhaney and many other delegates participated in the expo.
Earlier, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio welcomed the guests and delegates from all over the country.
