SC notice to Tamil Nadu over Kanchi seer's plea

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a petition by Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati seeking change of public prosecutor handling the Sankararaman murder case being heard in a Pondicherry court.

A bench comprising Justice Arun Kumar and Justice Tarun Chatterjee asked the state government to respond to the plea within two weeks and posted the matter for further hearing in April.

Alleging bias against the public prosecutor, the Shankaracharya, said the case should be handled by a public prosecutor from Pondicherry.

The Supreme court had earlier transferred the case from a trial court in Tamil Nadu to Pondicherry.
