Rail coach in yard gutted in fire

Chennai, Mar 27 (UNI) A condemned second class railway compartment stationed at the coach yard in Arakonam near here was destroyed in a fire mishap today.

Railway police sources said on information local fire units and fire fighting tenders from the Naval base rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the yard.

The sources said except the steel structure, the entire coach was destroyed. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
