Punjab govt sanctions grant for Jodhpur detainees

Chandigarh, Mar 27 (UNI) The Punjab government has sanctioned Rs one lakh for each Jodhpur Jail detainee, arrested during 'Operation Bluestar' from the Golden Temple at Amritsar.

Disclosing this here today, state Revenue minister Amarjit Singh Samra said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh immediately accepted the request of the detainees after he came to know that former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had promised to give them Rs one lakh each.

The decision came after all 356 Jodhpur detainees met the Revenue minister and informed him about the former chief minister's promise.
