Process of interviewing MDMK aspiring candidates begins

Chennai, Mar 27 (UNI) The Marumalarchi DMK commenced the process of interviewing aspiring candidates to contest in the May 8 assembly elections at the party headquarters 'Thayagam,' here today.

The interview committee headed by party general secretary Vaiko would interview nearly 700 aspirants by tomorrow. The candidates would be finalised by the Parliamentary Board of the party, according to party spokesman Mr Nanmaran.

He said partymen had submitted over 75 applications on behalf of Mr Vaiko asking him to contest in several constituencies, including Sivakasi and Annanagar in Chennai city.

He said MDMK was contesting from Chennai Harbour, Perambur (res), Egmore (res), Annanagar, Tambaram, Poonamalee, Tirupathur (Vellore district), Vellore, Gingee, Nellikuppam, Kurinjipadi, Dharmapuri, Dharamangalam, Kabilarmalai, Thondamuthur, Vellakovil, Tirupur, Sathyamangalam, Cumbum, Thirumangalam, Madurai East, Dindigul, Aravakkurichi, Thottiam, Tiruchirapalli-I, Mayiladuthurai, Pattukkottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Sivakasi, Vasudevanallur (res), Tenkasi, Sathankulam and Nagercoil constituencies.

Mr Vaiko would release the party's election manifesto and the list of constesting candidates at a public meeting to be held in the city on March 29, he added.
