Prince Charles unveils plaque for Food Park in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, Mar 27 (UNI) Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, today unveiled a plaque for the upcoming Food Park at Sirihind in the district.

The royal guest, who came here without his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, was given a warm welcome by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on the occasion which marked his maiden visit to Fatehgarh Sahib.

Young college girls escorted Prince Charles and the Punjab Chief Minister with the traditional Punjabi Phulkari to the car from where they left for Kapoor Singh's farm in village Shamsher Nager, near Sirhind.

Mediapersons were not allowed to cover Prince Charles' visit to the Sirhind township and were kept at a distance from the site where the royal guest unveiled the plaque.

Prince Charles later visited Patiala, where he was given a warm reception at the Moti Bagh Palace, the residence of the Punjab Chief Minister.
