Police recover Rs 4 lakhs in fake notes and 3 arrested

Kanpur, March 27 (UNI) Police unearthed a fake currency racket in Yahodanagar area here today and arrested three persons with Rs 4 lakh in counterfeit notes.

Circle officer of Govindnag, O P Singh, told mediapersons here that on a tip off police raided the house of a man named Gyanendra Singh and arrested him along with Guddu Bhandauria and Sanjay Singh and recovered fake notes in denominations of Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 500 worth Rs four lakh.

He said the notes were prepared with the help of computer scanners on stamp papers. These notes were circulated in Jaipur, Kanpur, Mathura, Ludhiana and other important cities with the help of another person named Sonu. At least 40 persons were engaged in the racket in Mathura, he added.

Police seized a computer, scanner and stamps depicting a Gandhi statue.
