New UCM office bearers to work in interiors of Manipur

Imphal, Mar 27 (UNI) The newly elected office bearers of United Committee of Manipur (UCM) will work in the remote areas of Manipur.

UCM General Secretary O Hemanta said the first meeting of the 25- member Central Committee was held today and the term of the new office bearers would be till 2008.

The UCM would take up developmental works in the hilly region so that people get opportunities, Hemanta said after the end of the Central Committee meeting at the UCM office in Kekrupat.

The Central Committee also discussed the issue of territorial integrity and resolved that they would maintain cordial relationship among all the communities in the region.

The Committee also decided to focus on health, education, power, communication problems, he added.

However, there were no changes in the branches of UCM he further said.
