'Love-struck' Irfan fan comes to Vadodara to propose marriage
Vadodara, Mar 27 (UNI) Irfan Pathan seems to be becoming a ''heart throb'' for his female fans Jhalak Kumari, a 20-year-old college girl from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand state, has created a stir after she arrived here to propose marriage to Pathan.
However, coming to know that the local lad had already left for Delhi for tomorrow's first ODI match against England, the crazy fan of Pathan wasted no time and took a Delhi-bound train last evening to see him in action there, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) sources, said on condition of anonymity.
Before her departure, Jhalak, who does not feel shy in saying that she is in love with Irfan and wants to marry him, reportedly handed over a letter meant for the cricketer's to his maternal uncle.
She also managed to meet National Selection Committee Chairman Kiran More at the BCA office and visited Irfan's new duplex house in the Haji Park society, as well as the Jumma Masjid, where Irfan stayed with his family in a one-room house till a couple of years ago.
Jhalak said she fell in love with Irfan after watching him in action at a match in Jamshedpur last year.
The girl also claimed that she has disclosed her love for Irfan to her family and has been following the cricketer to almost every match he plays in India.
This is not the first time that Irfan's family has been confronted with such an embarrassing situation. In July, 2004, a teenager from Ludhiana - Laxmi-- had fled from her home alongwith her younger sister, with a similar wish.
Pretending to be orphans, the sisters had taken shelter in a local women welfare home for nearly a month as Irfan was away from the city for a conditioning camp for the Asia cup in Sri Lanka.
However, despite all the tricks, Laxmi could not meet Irfan, as her parents spotted their two missing daughters on a TV channel and immediately rushed to Vadodara to receive them.
