Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today told the Legislative Assembly that the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) would probe the case of dance performance by foreign bar girls at a leading hotel in Nagpur.

Replying to a question raised by Devendra Phadanvis (BJP), Mr Patil accepted the demand of the member to institute an inquiry, headed by the Director General, A C B.

Mr Phadanvis took objection to the written reply which said even though the performance had no permission from the local police, there was no vulgarity involved and the dance performance was a paid event where foreigners staying in the hotel and invitees had danced.

The BJP member submitted photographs of the event to the Speaker and said, ''If this is not vulgarity, what is it?'' He said the event organised by hotel Pride situated on Wardha road, Nagpur, had violated all provisions of the Act banning dance performances.

He wanted to know if the government would institute an inquiry by DG-ACB to which Mr Patil agreed.

Mr Patil, while replying to another question on corrupt practices in Sasoon hospital in Pune, said the government would convene a meeting of the elected representatives from Pune to discuss the steps to curb such malpractices.

The Deputy CM also rejected demand for re-inquiry into the case of a superintendent from the hospital seeking bribe, as according to NCP member Dilip Mohite, the case was a result of rivalry between two doctors.
