Govt to appoint permanent commission on reservation
Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 27 (UNI) The Kerala Government today decided to set up a permanent commission to decide details on reservation based on the recommendations of the Narendran Commission report which had pointed out inadequate reservation to certain backward communities in government services.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told mediapersons after a Cabinet meeting that the government order issued on February two last had mentioned about the need for the constitution of a permanent commission to decide reservation.
He said sanction of the Election Commission (EC) would be sought for the constitution of the commission since the model code of conduct was in force in the context of the April-May Assembly poll in the state.
Mr Chandy said final notification revising the minimum wages of cashew workers would be issued on getting clearance from the EC.
Draft notification in this regard had been issued on August 25 last, he added.
