Government bans deep sea fishing in Excluisve Economic Zone

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) The Centre has banned fishing in the Exclusive Economic Zone from April 15 to May 31 (both days inclusive) along the East coast.

However, in the West Coast the ban will be in force from June 10 to August 15 (both days inclusive) to checkmate fishing during breeding period, an official release said here today.

The Departments of Animal Husbandry and Dairy and Fisheries, under Union Agriculture Minisrty, have asked all maritime states and union territories to impose a uniform ban in territorial waters under their jurisdiction accordingly, the release added.
