Freedom fighter Narayanji passes away
Palakkad, Kerala, Mar 27 (UNI) Freedom fighter and Prohibitionist Narayanji today died at his niece's house at Akathethara in the district.
He was 88 and is survived by two sons.
He had participated in the 1931 Payyannur Salt Satyagraha. He was imprisoned in the Lucknow Central Jail for participating in the 1942 Quit India movement.
Mr Narayanji was a disciple of Krishna Iyer who founded the Shabari Ashram at Akathetharam which and Mahatma Gandhi visited thrice during the freedom struggle.
He was engaged in the propagation of Hindi, since 1945.
