Four militants killed and a sarpanch injured in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 27 (UNI) Four militants were killed and a sarpanch was injured in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
A defence spokesman said two militants were killed in an encounter at Baban forest in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning during a search operation.
Security forces seized two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition after an hour-long fierce clash.
In another incident, acting on a tip off, security forces cordoned off village Sheikhnar Sogam in north Kashmir last night to nab some militants.
However, when the security forces were searching the village, militants attacked them with automatic weapons. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash one militant was killed. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were seized from the slain militant.
In another encounter at Kupwara, security forces killed a militant. Two security personnel were also injured in the shootout, sources said.
Militants shot at and wounded a sarpanch Abdul Ahad at Qazigund in south Kashmir last night. He was admitted to a hospital.
