Gulbarga, Mar 27 (UNI) Karnataka Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Gowda Darshanapur today laid the foundation stone for a 33/11 kv power distribution sub-station at Hadagil Haruli village in this district of Karnataka.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone, he said the farmers of the surrounding 20 villages would get quality power for their irrigational pumpsets once the sub-station started functioning, thus saving an estimated Rs 34 lakh. Work on the sub-station would be completed within six months.

Later, participating in a meeting on drinking water supply schemes in the district, Mr Darshanapur said the Government had released an additional Rs 2.28 crore to zilla panchayats to tackle drinking water shortage. Task force committees should take up the work on a priority basis with the funds available.

The Minister was unhappy over the maintenance of State highways.
